Guyala Bayles is a young Birri Gubba and Wonnarua actor, model, poet and activist hailing originally from the Murri Community in Queensland.
Guyala was born in Brisbane, but grew-up in Redfern and Kempsey before eventually returning to Queensland at the age of 11.
With no father figure growing-up she took inspiration and guidance from her grandfather, respected First Nations radio presenter and land rights activist, Tiga Bayles. Tiga was known as the voice of Indigenous Australia.
Activism has been a cornerstone of her family for generations. Guyala’s Grandmother, Maureen Watson was an avid supporter of Aboriginal rights in Australia as well as a renowned actor, vocalist, writer, musician, and storyteller.
A successful model, Guyala has amassed quite an established client list, having shot for
Country Road,
David Jones,
Scanlan and Theodore,
Witchery,
Kathmandu,
Footlocker,
The Iconic and
Maybelline.
Guyala recently had a starring role in the crowd favourite Australian feature film
