Tahyna MacManus is an Australian actor, director, writer, and producer.
Tahyna grew up in the Sydney beach-side suburb of Cronulla; and began her career as an actress, starring in several television and film blockbusters.
On television, Tahyna’s first role as a young actress was in the
ABC drama
Blue Water High, where she played Perri Lawe. She went on to portray a wide range of memorable characters in hit shows including
CSI: NY, Charlie’s Angels, and
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
For her work in feature films, Tahyna made her debut in Dean O’Flaherty’s
Beautiful. She was next cast as Emma alongside Hugh Jackman in the blockbuster
X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Other feature film credits include
Trophy Kids,
Needle,
The Last Light,
The Ever After and
Julia.
Tahyna also does the voice acting and her likeness was used for a character named Daina Le Guin in the 2011 sci-fi horror game
Dead Space and its follow-up.
In the theatre Tahyna directed an amateur stage production of John Patrick Shanley’s
Savage In Limbo which sold out to audiences during its run in Los Angeles.
Her directorial debut, a short film titled
OREN won many awards touring the international festival circuit including
Best International Film at the
Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival; solidifying Tahyna’s very comfortable place behind the camera.
Tahyna co-founded the all-female led production company
Neon Jane Productions alongside Kelly Tomasich and in 2020 the duo launched
The Australian Women’s Film Festival celebrating Australian Women in film and honouring those who have made a significant contribution to the industry.
Also in 2020, Tahyna released her debut feature, an observational documentary titled
MuM: Misunderstandings Of Miscarriage. The film received critical and audience acclaim and continues to shatter the shame and stigma associated with Pregnancy loss around the world.
